Esplugues de Llobregat
Esplugues, anmblematic city in terms of modernist ceramics. The old Pujol i Bausis factory, known as La Rajoleta, was one of the main centers producing architectural ceramics of the Modernisme and Noucentisme. Architects such as Gaudí, Gallissà, Puig i Cadafalch, Domènech i Montaner, Font i Gumà or Bassegoda, would nourish their architectural works with ceramic elements produced in the Esplugues factory. Some of these architects, together with other artists, would make ceramic projects for the factory.
The visit allows you to get to know an important part of this legacy, in addition to entering the set of preserved ovens and learning how they work. Next door, there is the Can Tinturé Museum, home to the Salvador Miquel sample tile collection, the first monographic sample tile museum in Spain that exhibits pieces produced from the 14th to the 19th century. Both facilities are located in the middle of the historic center of the town, located in a series of charming streets, such as the Carrer de l'Éslgésia, the Carrer de Montserrat or, very close, the Parc dels Torrents.
Of the many cultural, civic and sports organizations that the town has, l'Avenç Cultural Center should be highlighted, which includes an event hall for theater and cinema.
And among the various festivities of Esplugues de Llobregat, we will mention the Carnival, together with the feast of the ancient patron Santa Magdalena and the major feast of Sant Mateu, in July and August respectively.
