Olesa de Montserrat

Located 20 kilometers from the monastery of Montserrat, Olesa is a municipality with strong agricultural roots, highlighting the cultivation of olive trees. Its oil (extracted from palomera olives, a native olive variety) is, in this sense, internationally recognized, thus Olesa is a municipality marked by the specialization of olive farming since 1789, winning the gold medal at the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929.

In terms of heritage, the Torre del Rellotge stands out - located in the old town and around which the first urban center grew. Also of interest are the hermitage of Sant Salvador de les Espases and the Castell de Sant Pere Sacama, both from the 10th century. Likewise, the geological singularity of Ribes Blaves should be highlighted.

In this municipality, ''La Passió d'Olesa'' stands out; a first-rate and well-known stage event, in which the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are represented. This show is held every year in the months of February, March and April.

Other notable festivals are: The Festival of the Tres Tombs - in honor of Sant Antoni Abat, protector of animals, around January 17 - or the Festival of Santa Oliva - patron saint of Olesa, on June 10 -.
