Gomis House
The Gomis house is a wonderful example of rationalist architecture in Catalonia. Located in the heart of the Delta del Llobregat, surrounded by pine trees and a few meters from the sea, the house integrates into the surrounding landscape and establishes a constant dialogue between its architecture and its surroundings.
Also known as La Ricarda, Casa Gomis was projected and constructed through a series of communications by letter between the Gomis-Bertrand family and the architect Antoni Bonet Castellana, who lived in exile, in Argentina, between the years 1949 and 1956.
From this collaborative process, a harmonious design arose and in permanent dialogue with its surroundings. One of the most iconic architectural features of the house is its wavy roof, which integrates perfectly into the landscape of the coastal pine that surrounds it. Transparent or translucent enclosures and a highly studied furniture design provide a delicate sensation of continuity between the interior and exterior.
Ricardo Gomis's passion for music was one of the influential factors in conceptualizing the design of the house. Opened in 1963, Casa Gomis became a privileged space for creating, exhibiting and meeting the cultural avant-garde, and hosted a part of the musical and theatrical activities organized by Club 49.
